US likely discussion with EU over Ukraine : Implications for Russia 2022

In EU Summit the US President Joe Biden will discuss the issue of Ukraine with members of the EU. They will discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine and consider more sanctions on Russia for military action in Ukraine.

The invasion in Ukraine has threatened the stability of the world that has implications on European Countries mainly Eastern Europe. The US has sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine. They have faced causalities and a lack of power supply that led to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The bombing has disrupted the infrastructure of the country and people are taking refugees in other countries as a result of the war in Ukraine. Russia has taken military action that has caused the displacement of the people of Ukraine. The US has threatened more sanctions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian invasion saw a threat to the stability of Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Baltic states. The use of force will pose a serious threat to the security of NATO and Non- NATO states. The European Union will assess the repercussions of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They will discuss the means to avert the war in Ukraine and its spillage into other parts of Eastern Europe.

The wealthy Russian oligarchs, political and military officials are blamed for supporting war and taking military action in Ukraine. They have played a role in supporting Russia to take military action after retaliation from Ukraine forces. The oligarchs of Russia have encouraged the war to expand their interests in Ukraine. They have given support to Putin in invasion and escalation in the region of Eastern Europe.

The US has been providing anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons. In order to counter the threat of Russian military action, the US has provided weapons to Ukraine to counter Russian forces. Ukraine is fighting to prevent the control of Russia over Ukraine. Ukrainian forces with the assistance of weapons from the US launched counterattacks to oppose Russia’s military forces. The European Union has imposed sanctions on Russia due to their invasion that led to an uncertain situation. The situation has to risk the stability of the entire world.

The Implications of the Russian invasion have been immense. It has challenged the security apparatus operating in Ukraine. They have been aided by NATO and US to fight against the Russian forces. The question is will Russia be able to challenge NATO’s collective security mechanism to counter security threats? The annexation of Crimea by Russia has shifted the power equation that poses a threat to European states.
