United Nations Security Council Resolution On Afghanistan

United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution to acknowledge Afghanistan, peace. In the voting session at UNSC, The 14 members voted in favor and one was absent from the voting session. The resolution was passed to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan. The situation of people in the context, of the humanitarian, political, and human rights fronts, including those of women, children, and journalists in Afghanistan is a concern for global actors. The international community has expressed their reservations about the situation in Afghanistan. After the resolution, the situation of people will improve through the assistance of international humanitarian donor agencies.

The new mandate for UNAMA [the UN mission to Afghanistan] was drafted by the Norwegian UN Ambassador Mona Juul, for securing stability in Afghanistan that was deteriorating due to issues between the Afghan leaders and American forces in Afghanistan. They are there to restore stability and peace and collaborated with the Afghan Government.

In August 2021, the last United States-led international troops left after 20 years of war in Kabul. They have given the power to the Taliban and withdraw their forces. The experts on Afghan relations have taken it as a good step towards lasting peace within Afghanistan through the leaders of Afghan leadership. It occurred after negotiations with the Taliban at Doha to develop a roadmap for peace in Afghanistan.

All members of the Security Council agree that Afghanistan needs the UN’s help to keep its economy from collapsing and causing a humanitarian issue for the world. The influx of refugees increased after the Taliban took control of the government after the previous government left the office in Afghanistan.

There several actors in form splinter groups have been there in Afghanistan's local politics. It includes groups that have differences with the Taliban overrunning the government. The coalition of these groups can help in establishing a secure and stable government to prevent wars among them. It is possible through the collaboration of all the domestic actors of Afghanistan to form a stable and peaceful government.

The resolution in United Nations Security Council is a renewal of the UN’s mandate to work in Afghanistan. The assistance of UN agencies is required to restore the economy of Afghanistan. The global and regional players consider it a good step towards a stable and secure Afghanistan. The analysts, the trustable government in Afghanistan is essential for the stability of the region and to prevent it from becoming ground for power rivalry.
