Ukraine War: Mariupol Crisis

The Black Sea port city of Mariupol is crucial as Russian forces continued to take hold of the city. The Ukrainian authorities have accused Russia of denying safe passage to civilians to leave the city or take refuge in camps for civilians on humanitarian grounds. According to Ukrainian officials, Russia intentionally did not allow civilians to shift to temporary camps to protect their lives.

Russia has denied any claims of targeting civilians. They have claimed that they are conducting a special operation” to disarm Ukraine and unseat leaders practicing the neo-Nazis” policies. The matter became worse when Russia invaded Ukraine to curtail Ukraine's attempts to increase its arms through the help of other countries. These countries include NATO members and the US to retaliate against Russia.

Mariupol is a strategically vital city and around 400,000 people have been without power and water. The People of Mariupol, have faced an acute shortage of food and medical supplies to provide first aid to the people in the city. The humanitarian assistance organization has expressed its concerns on the situation of civilians who are deprived of power supply. The Condition of people has been deteriorated with blockage by Russia.

Russia black the military airfields of Lutsk and Ivano-Frankivsk, in western Ukraine. They have blocked the polish border for Ukrainian. The bombing in Mariupol has devastated the civilians. Russia has choked the important city of Ukraine. They have faced resistance from Ukrainian forces to prevent the control of Russian forces in Ukraine. The blockage of civilians can create serious issues through a shortage of supplies for their survival.

The deadlock between Russia and Ukraine is a serious threat to peace in Eastern Europe. The attempts of the United Nations to end the conflict between both parties through resolution are ineffective. Although they have agreed to hold talks differences between Russia and Ukraine still persist and a safe corridor for civilians is facing challenges in form of blockage from Russian forces.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...
