Turkey as a Mediator between Russia and Ukraine

Turkey maintains a policy of neutrality and avoids taking sides in case of conflict. Turkey actively keeps their relations with Russia and other power players. They choose to stay neutral in the context, of the Ukraine crisis. They have offered to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. On the diplomatic front, they engage with Russia to resolve matters through negotiations.

Russian foreign minister Lavrov issued a statement that they are open to talks if they were meaningful. Russian spokesperson conveyed their interest in negotiation offers by Turkey between Russia and Kyiv. The willingness to negotiate can be taken as a step towards ending the war in Ukraine. The analysts have apprehensions that negotiations will be able to end the war and bring both parties to the negotiation table.

Ukraine has also taken interest in holding talks with Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Kyiv has openly invited Russia to resolve issues through dialogue and ending the use of force. The uncertainty still prevails as negotiations haven’t been initiated despite their willingness to hold talks with Russia.

Turkey had provided a diplomatic passage to continue talks and end the war in Ukraine. The war threatens the peace and stability of the world. Turkey wants to play the role of mediator between Russia and Ukraine to end the conflict through talks. Turkey is not taking the side of any country and offers them to resolve issues through peaceful means. As a regional player Turkey condemn the annexation of Crimea in 2014. They are against the expansionist policy pursued by any country.

The future of talks between Russia and Ukraine is uncertain. Ukraine opposed the invasion of Russia and asked for help from other power players to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Turkey has opposed the Russian invasion and is considered a threat to the stability of world. It is not unclear whether the negotiation will prove futile or end in deadlock.

The United Nations has also expressed their concern and condemned the Russian military action in Ukraine and equate it with expansionist policy. The United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. They have objected to their unilateral decision to invade Ukraine.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...
