Syria Visit Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates

Bashar Assad has also met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the state news agencies confirmed the meeting between them. This is his first visit since 2011 when he was accused of increasing tensions at the domestic level. The civil war in Syria further flare-up among rebels and Assad-backed forces.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss the overall situation and their bilateral relations. The bilateral cooperation, mainly in the context of the economic investment strengthened their relations and increased their trade and at commercial levels to mend their relations that were discontinued after the civil war in Syria.

The Arab countries have revived their ties with Assad, along with other neighboring countries Jordan and Lebanon. The normalization of relations with Syria will play a role in stabilizing the regional political situation. The stability within the region will prevent conflict and uncertainty. The Arab countries blamed Syria for deadlock after they launch an operation against the opposition in 2011.

Saudi Arabia and UAE have drastically changed their policy at the regional level to prevent the involvement of Iran at the regional level. They suspected the Iranian role and blamed them for flaring up conflict for their interest. The normalization of relations is to signal Iran and secure stability within the Gulf region.

The conflict-prone region will drain the resources of gulf states. The uncertainty can turn their states into an economic crisis. They have shifted their economy from oil towards a broader economy that is not dependent upon oil and gas. They are investing in other sectors to stabilize their economy through effective strategies that require them to cooperate with the other regional actors.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...
