North Korea Missile Tests in 2022

Two new intercontinental ballistic missiles by North Korea consider a serious threat by the US. They have tested their missile system to build their military capacity against attacks by the US. They have retaliated and declared their ballistic missile to prevent any attacks from any country. They have developed their missile system to beef up their defense.

The Impact on security is immense as it transforms the power trajectory in South East Asia. The US and its allies in the region see it as a threat to regional security and they have imposed sanctions on North Korea after testing nuclear devices. South Korea and Japan strongly condemn the North Korea offensive strategy toward the other regional powers and US. According to analysts, North Korea has challenged the global authority.

Despite North Korea, the Biden administration is engaged to negotiate with them to defuse the escalations in the region. US gives consideration to its allies in the region to take them on board to encourage a reduction in weapons particularly, intercontinental ballistic missile systems that have the ability to target the US.

Implications of the build-up of the ballistic missile systems pose threat to the stability of southeast Asian countries. The allies of the US and other regional powers oppose the increase in the arms race and it hampers disarmament efforts in the limiting arms race. It can be only possible through the collective efforts of all regional players along with global powers to reduce the number of arms.

Asymmetry is one of the major causes the prevent disarmament attempts by states. The disparity between major powers, middle powers, and small powers created a trust deficit among nations to curtail the spread of arms and develop new missile technologies to increase their security. There are multiple threats to the world including the arms race to achieve stability at the global level.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...
