India's Election in 2022

Hardliner's win in elections in India is a concern in South Asia.  Modi has completed two terms and preparing for a third consecutive term to stay in power. They have followed aggressive policies towards their neighboring countries. It is unclear whether India will continue to be aggressive in its policies to ensure its authority over internal and external relations.

The Hindu monk Adityanath has emerged as a major political figure in recent elections as he hails from BJP that pursued conservative policies and Hindu nationalism. They have built a narrative on their identity which makes their agenda exclusionary toward other communities living in India. The question is whether they are pursuing a policy of Indian nationalism or Hindu nationalism?

Congress has expressed its concern about the  Hindu narrative used by BJP and has shown a tilt towards Hindu nationalism. For example, the farmers' protest in India forced Modi to change their contentious laws that were repressive toward their farmers. The farmers protested for days against their government and ask for reforms to bring a major shift in their controversial farm laws. Adiyanath majority in Uttar Pradesh, where the largely rural community where rural population protested against the government to change their laws for farmers.

The policy shift in Indian policy will occur if hardliners win for the third term in India. Modi policy will empower Indian people through the holistic representation of all communities or it will be exclusionary and driven by Hindu nationalists. According to experts the over-focus on Hindu nationalism will create more resistance toward their government and discontent among masses will increase toward their government.

The saffron terrorism is linked to the BJP that is actively pursuing an aggressive posture towards its minorities that excludes them from government representation and infringement of their rights as citizens of India. The extremist policies of the Hindu extremists were criticized by analysts as they exclude other communities from the domestic policymaking in India.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...
