Global Treaty to End Plastic Waste

The plastic conference was held in Nairobi to cut down on the wastage of plastic. The aim of the conference was to promote a reduction in plastic use by consumers and producers. It was held on 3 March 2022. The spread of plastic conference has caused a bigger issue for individuals living on this planet. The legal draft begins this year and will be implemented by 2024. In the beginning, the aim is to decrease the use of plastic and focus on recycled plastic instead of producing new plastic. The technology to recycle will be provided to countries to curb the spread of plastic. 


According to scientific studies, 9% of plastic is recycled by the world. The use has been doubled since the 1950s. The plastic waste didn’t disappear into thin air it is dumped into landfills. The plastic treaty was signed by 70 countries and 27 countries from the EU. It is considered a major step toward a decrease in plastic. The beverages companies including Pepsi, Unilever, and Coca-Cola have favored the recycling of plastic in the world. 


The initiative of the world toward the recycling of plastic to decrease its harmful effects on Earth. It has become a reason for soil pollution and air pollution when plastics are burned. The biggest beverages companies support the cause of getting down the amount of plastic to make our environment safer for people.



The use of plastic has increased from 1950 to 348 million tonnes in 2017, becoming a global hazard for people living on this planet. The concern was raised by all the countries as plastic is causing serious health problems for people. The greenhouse gases are linked to the use of plastic and its disposal which is adding to the increase in the temperature of the planet.

The historic resolution, entitled “End Plastic Pollution: Towards an internationally legally binding after three-day-long meetings among members of all nations. It is a significant climate treaty since the Paris Conference to curb the environmental damage and make our planet more suitable for all the species living on the Earth.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas.   A wildfire  erupted in different parts of Europe amid the heat wave creating havoc for people.   Scientists have linked wildfire to climate change which has become a major concern that is leading to extreme weather conditions.
