Food Shortage in Yemen

Yemen has faced an acute food shortage due to ongoing conflict in the country. The international humanitarian assistance agencies and the UN provided aid to reduce the shortage of food and loss of the lives of people living in Yemen.  The distribution of the food is crucial which gets hampered due to fights between the government and rebels. It has become difficult for humanitarian assistance bodies in Yemen to ensure the security of people, who are affected by the war-like situation in the country. The shortage of an adequate supply of food can make matter worse, if the conflict is prolonged in the region particularly, in Yemen.

The frequent unlawful attacks by rebel groups made the matter far worse. The Food shortage has affected a large number of the people of Yemen. The rebel group attacks prevent humanitarian aid agencies to function and supply of food to the most affected areas of Yemen. The shortage of food can make the situation worse for people in Yemen. The global actors can prevent this situation by pressurizing rebels to end their unlawful attacks on civilians. The unlawful attacks disrupt the UN agencies to provide humanitarian assistance to the people who are adversely affected by the crisis in Yemen.

The war-like situation has caused the destruction of many systems that are working in Yemen. The uncertain situations are due to attacks of rebel groups. The authorities of Yemen disturb the normal function of the health sector with the problems in transportation that delivers relief goods choked by the attacks. The disruption of transportation makes it difficult for hospitals to function and help people who need medical assistance. The collapse of educational institutions due to infrastructure losses prevented educational activities for the people. The situation in Yemen has affected the different sectors particularly education, health, and transportation that are vital for the people.

The lack of central authority creates anarchy within Yemen. The people of Yemen are living in a conflict situation. The conflict between rebel groups and governing authorities has prolonged the conflict. The deadlock remains the source of concern for the United Nations (UN).  The peace of Yemen is at stake due to the crisis in the country. The stability in Yemen can only be reached through the dialogue between the government and rebels to end their conflict and work towards a peaceful resolution of their contentious issues. The negotiations can help broker sustainable peace among warring parties in Yemen.

Melting Glaciers in Antarctic Region

Satellite images show the 1,200sq km (463sq miles) Conger Ice Shelf collapsed completely in March. According to studies by scientists, the large chunks of ice attached to the land acts as a buffer to prevent ice from melting and flowing into the ocean increasing the risk of submergence due to a rise in sea level on the land areas. The areas on coastlines are in danger of receding land areas due to the rise in sea levels. The temperature reaching 40C (70F) above normal in parts of East Antarctica, is unusual for the region during this time of the year. Scientists, consider the melting of ice in Antarctica is likely to increase the risk of flooding. The rapid pace of melting of ice has adverse effects on the land adjoining the ocean. Melting of ice is creating an effect Neff described as “a fire hose of moisture phenomenon. The rate of climate change is three times warmer in the Antarctic than in the Arctic Ocean. In the context of factors, first and foremost is the increase in greenhous...

The scourging heat has contributed to increasing in wildfires that led to the excavation of people. The temperature is expected to reach 40 Celsius in different parts of Europe as per the health advisory issued by countries in Europe.     Portugal and Spain are the most affected countries by the recent wave of heat waves. The firefighters are fighting to extinguish the wildfire and rescue the operation of people stranded in the wildfire. Scientists have predicted more wildfires in the coming years. In Portugal, five regions were affected areas due to heat waves where the temperature rose to 47 Celsius.  Wildfires have destroyed 30,000 hectares of land in Portugal and 100 people have lost their lives due to wildfires.
